Positive Persistence Accomplishes Goals

Happy Monday everyone!!
We begin the new week here in Ontario with the anticipation of further loosening of restrictions imposed on us by COVID-19.
This is a good time once again to thank all of the essential and frontline workers who have done an incredible job to adapt new methods so that we can continue to be safe and protect ourselves.
Because of all of our efforts to respect the science and health professionals guidelines, certain regions in Ontario will be able to move to Phase 3 of re-openings.
Although it may be somewhat early to celebrate the positive numbers released by the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB), it is important that all glimmers of hope afforded to us in statistics is better than having negative ones.
Here below are some stats for those continuing to wonder about the state of our real estate market in the GTA.
Greater Toronto Area
- Average selling price: $930,869 (up 11.9% vs. June 2019)
- Home sales: 8,701 (+1.4% from June 2019)
- Housing starts: 3,470 (+15% vs. June 2019)
I find it disappointing that following these past four months, some still look ahead with the most negative outlook – including many experts.
I’m in no way suggesting that everything is perfect. It isn’t.
Far from it.
However, I believe we need to be focusing more on the positive data available so to continue to nurture what is required from each of us as we continue on the path to the recovery of our economy – both at large and in our own homes.
There may be more setbacks coming but, positive outcomes are just as likely if we keep focus on our obligations to self and to others.
Yes, many sectors of our society continue to suffer – especially those in the hospitality, restaurant, entertainment, travel and retail industries. Without getting into statistics of the impact COVID-19 has had on these industries – we all know how devastating it has been - it is encouraging to see the steps many of these owner/operator’s have implemented to save their businesses, livelihoods and jobs of the employees who rely on said industries.
At the same time, it is unfortunate that many seem to be getting “addicted” to the government support that was given quickly and prudently to stave off an even greater financial calamity.
It was always my hope that this moment in time would awaken people to look more closely at their own financial situation and do whatever it takes to improve their position.
Concentrating on objectives that will improve your life and those in your care should not be erased because of this crisis.
A few months ago, it would have sounded insensitive to say or do anything that would come across as trying to profit from this pandemic.
“Never let a good crisis go to waste.” Sir Winston Churchill – 1940
Now more than ever, this famous quote should be the rallying cry that we adopt as did our forefathers and mothers after both World Wars, Great Depression and so on.
The world we live in is not perfect but, the abundance and opportunities that are available came from positive persistence towards a better outcome following any of history’s greatest setbacks.
I am thankful that these four months have introduced me to people – especially those in their 20’s – who are focused and driven to educate themselves on what they will require to improve their lives.
In my world, understanding and positioning oneself to what finances are available: to purchase a home; to purchase an investment property; to renovate an existing home, to securing a life insurance plan, etc, etc, etc, has been extremely satisfying.
The biggest satisfaction I get is listening to people with clear goals and their desire to understand what is required of them to achieve those goals.
Others need further assistance in understanding what their current financial status is. Once known, it is a beautiful thing listening to new goals being created and how dreams are things that come true with commitment and hard work.
So again, let’s continue to focus on the positive news. This will be necessary as each of us takes steps as individuals to strive for a better tomorrow.
It isn’t about profiting from a crisis.
It is about being in a particular situation today and regardless of cause, knowing what is required to continue or begin your path to a better tomorrow.
This is partly the reason why I did not want to fill this blog with too many statistics – good or bad.
Everyone knows what their daily, weekly and monthly obligations are. Most of the news we absorb does not concentrate on what we should do in our own home.
That said, I don’t and will not believe that strong individuals with a sense of purpose will rely on statistics to govern how they live.
A crisis such as the one we are living through should be a call to everyone to understand not only what it will take to get through this but, also to know what steps are required to aspire to a better future for us, our loved ones and, society at large.
As always, never hesitate to contact me to continue this discussion on your financial situation or that of someone you may know.
Whether the conversation begins with answering your credit score concerns and how to improve it; your current mortgage; your plans to improve the value of your current property; your plans to refinance to invest in other opportunities and anything else in between, I am here for you.
Looking forward to hearing from you, I wish you all a wonderful week ahead.
Think positive and it will be so!!
With kind regards,
Marco
